How do I access EMIS Access?
From the main menu, select EA – EMIS Access.
How can I view the patients that are registered with EMIS Access?
From the EMIS Access menu, select N – Manage Patients.
How do I get started using EMIS Access?
►Select the features that you want to make available:
1. From the main menu, select SC – System Configuration, EA – EMIS Access, F – Features.
2. Select a feature you want to make available, and then select E – Enable Permission for All Patients.
3. Press F8 to save.
4. Press Y (yes) to confirm.
►Select the clinicians that you want to make available for bookings:
1. From the main menu, select SC – System Configuration, EA – EMIS Access, A – Appointment Configuration, U – Bookable Clinicians.
2. Select each required clinician in turn using the cursor keys, and then press N – None, A – All or U – Usual.
3. Press F8 to save.
Why are no patients displayed on the Patient Management screen?
Only patients that have been registered with EMIS Access are displayed on the Patient Management screen.
What should I do if I cannot find AccessPin.rtf (the EMIS Access registration form)?
This file is stored in the MSWDocs folder on your main server. If you cannot find this file, contact EMIS Support on
0845 122 2333, option 10.
How do I access the EMIS Access website?
The EMIS Access website is: https://access.e-mis.co.uk. You can access this website in any of the following ways:
1. Click a link to the website from your practice website.
2. Go to http://www.patient.co.uk, and then select Surgery.
3. Type the address into your internet browser.
Tip: To go to your practice’s section of the EMIS Access website, type https://access.e-mis.co.uk?cdb=XXX, where XXX is your EMIS customer database (CDB) number.
When a patient is registering to use EMIS Access, what should they do if an error message is displayed, saying that they have entered incorrect information?
The patient must type the information exactly as it is shown on the registration form. For example, if the patient’s middle name is on the registration form, in the Forename section they must type their middle name as well as their first name, for example, John Alex.
Note: This section is case sensitive.
I cannot find the EMIS Access option on the System Configuration menu. What should I do?
Check that your security profile is configured to allow you to use EMIS Access. Your system administrator must configure your security profile.
To configure a security profile:
1. From the main menu, select AO – Advanced Options, CS – Changes to the system, VN – Add Staff and Amend Details.
2. From the User Definition menu, select P – User Profiles.
3. Select the required profile, and then amend it to allow access to EMIS Access.
Can I select which appointment sessions are available from EMIS Access?
Yes. You can also specify which appointment slots are displayed on the website.
Can I control how far ahead patients are allowed to book appointments?
You can configure EMIS Access to allow appointments to be booked up to a maximum of 21 days ahead. Urgent and blocked slots are not displayed on the website.
Can I book appointments for nurses and other consulters as well as for GPs?
You can book appointments for nurses if they have been configured as available clinicians.
How can I identify an appointment that has been booked using EMIS Access?
Appointments that have been booked using EMIS Access are prefixed with *I in EMIS LV.
Can I modify the appointments page to include a telephone number request section?
No, at the moment this is not possible.
Is Practice Number the same as Practice ID?
Yes. You can amend AccessPIN.rtf to refer to Practice Number or Practice ID, if required.
