Paper Light Training
This section includes our training to help practices become paper light.
Scanning and Attachments
Half Day Onsite Training. At your practice on your own system (maximum four delegates at a time).
An EMIS Operations Manager will ensure that your scanner is configured for use with the EMIS system.
They will also provide training on the following:
- Scanning documents using EMIS
- Adding scanned attachments to the clinical record
- Attaching digital images in consultation mode
- Retrieving images from within the clinical record
- Dealing with attachments on patients who have transferred out
- Managing and monitoring attachments’ hard disk usage.

Progressing Towards Paper Light Seminar
Full Day Seminar. Lecture style with projector (maximum 30 delegates).
Delegates will have an opportunity to learn how to:
- Consider the implications and benefits in reducing paper flows
- Identify the paper processes in preparation for a controlled migration away from paper
- Prepare disaster recovery policies
- Implement security procedures in line with Caldicott and Data Protection Policies
- Learn shortcuts and faster methods for adding data to your EMIS system
- Develop a practice plan.

Summarising Notes
Full Day Onsite Training. At your practice on your own system (maximum four delegates at a time).
The training session will:
- Enable the practice to obtain 45 points within the nGMS Contract
- Provide advice and guidance on creating a practice procedure for summarising patient notes
- Provide training on how to use your clinical system to its full potential.
This will enable your practice to:
- Meet other clinical indicators through effective data entry
- Maximise efficiency by using a preferred clinical terms set
- Increase knowledge through useful handouts.
